Vocabulary of August 29th- September 2nd 2016
1a. Argument - ( noun) a way to persuasion.
1b. I wrote an email to my mom trying to persuade her to let me go to my friends house, but she still said no.
2a. Cite- (verb) evidence for or justification of an argument or statement, especially in a scholarly work.
2b. I tried to Cite the evidence in the book, but I can't find it.
3a. Passive Voice - (Noun) is a grammatical construction
3b. I tried to have a passive voice, but no one would listen.
4a. Personification ( Noun) a figure of speech in which a thing, an idea or an animal is given human attributes
4b. In the Movie Doctor Dolittle the animals use Personification, but not all of them do.
5a. Point of View- ( Noun) the angle of considering things, which shows us the opinion, or feelings of the individuals involved in a situation.
5b. You can find point of view anywhere, because we use it all the time.
Vocabulary of September 6th- 11th
10a. agile- (adjective) able to move quickly and easily.
9a. meticulous - ( adjective) showing great attention to detail; very careful and precise.
8a. evolve-(Verb) develop gradually, especially from a simple to a more complex form.
7a. articulate- (adjective) having or showing the ability to speak fluently and coherently.
6a.Collaborate- (verb) work jointly on an activity, especially to produce or create something.
Vocabulary Week September 12th- 16th
11a. Hypotenuse-(Noun) the longest side of a right triangle, opposite the right angle.
11b. I was trying to find the hypotenuse, but I didn't understand how to.
12a. Converse- ( Noun) Switching the hypothesis and conclusion of a conditional statement
12b. I tried to converse in the math problem, but I had to have help to do it.
13a. Irrational numbers- (Noun) irrational number is a real number that cannot be expressed as a ratio of integers, fraction.
13b. On our math homework we had to figure out Irrational numbers, but no one knew how to.
14a.rational number( Noun) is any number that can be expressed as the fraction
14b. In math today we are going to talk about rational numbers, and we will have homework over it.
15a. Square Root - ( Noun) number that produces a specified quantity when multiplied by itself
15b. I had to find the square root of 12.
Week of September 19th- 23rd
16a. Elastic potential energy - energy stored in any object or material that is bent, stretched, or compressed.
16b. My dads bow has elastic potential energy, because when you pull back the arrow that is when you have the most elastic potential energy.
17a. Newton - the unit in the metric system used to measure force.
17b. We had to do a science project, and we had to use newtons.
18a. Force Field - an area around an object where an object can influence another object with out touching it. A magnetic field is an example of this.
18b. Earth has a Force Field, and its called Gravitational field and magnetic field.
19a. Inertia - how hard it is to get something moving, stop a moving object, or change the direction of a moving object.
19b. when I am running, and I want to stop I have to try to stop myself with inertia.
20a. Normal force - a equal but opposite force that pushes back when you stand, sit, or push on a surface so you do not sink through that surface.

21a.accept- (verb) consent to receive (a thing offered)
21b. I accept a present from my mom.
22a. except -(preposition ) not including; other than.
23a. affect-( verb) have an effect on; make a difference to.
24a. Effect- ( Noun) a change that is a result or consequence of an action or other cause
25a. Principle - ( Noun) a fundamental truth or proposition that serves as the foundation for a system of belief or behavior or for a chain of reasoning.
